Q: What's new with UiPath Certified Professional in October 2023?

Developer Track Update
Our flagship certification track, the Developer – Automation Track, has undergone a renewal with the introduction of two new certifications:

These two certifications are new and refreshed versions of RPA Associate and Advanced RPA Developer certifications.

As of October 13, 2023, RPA Associate and Advanced RPA Developer certifications are no longer available for new candidates to acquire. However, RPA Associate and Advanced RPA Developer certifications obtained before this date will remain valid for three (3) years from October 13, 2023. Current RPA Associate and Advanced RPA Developer certification holders are encouraged to maintain their certification status by taking the latest exam during this period.

In conjunction with these changes, the qualifying exams for these certifications have been updated from 2021.10 to 2022.10 product version, as of October 13, 2023. The exam contents are also aligned with modern design experience.

The Automation Developer Associate and Automation Developer Professional certifications are actively maintained by the UiPath Certified Professional Program. We periodically refresh exam descriptions, qualifying exam versions, and practice resources to align with the latest UiPath product releases, platform capabilities, and industry best practices. For the most current qualifying exam version, exam description, and preparation materials, please consult the latest exam description documents found on this page.
If you hold one of these credentials, we recommend checking the exam description before scheduling an exam or preparing for renewal.

Introducing a brand-new Specialized AI Professional Certification
Additionally, we are introducing a brand-new Specialized AI Professional Certification as a new specialty under the Developer track. To qualify to become a Specialized AI Professional, aspiring candidates must have achieved at least Associate level certification in the Developer – Automation track. The addition of the Specialized AI Professional role represents a strategic enhancement to our current certification portfolio, aimed at cultivating a workforce capable of combining the power of RPA with AI.

3-year validity period
Starting from October 13, 2023, all UiPath Certified Professional Certifications have a 3-year valid period. In the ever-changing landscape of automation, the demand for proficient professionals is constant. To remain at the cutting edge, it is essential to keep your knowledge and skills up to date. With the introduction of a 3-year validity period, we foster a culture of continuous learning, encouraging you to refresh your skills and stay relevant throughout your career trajectory. Professional (Formerly Advanced) level exam price adjustment
The newly introduced Automation Developer Professional Exam is priced at 300 USD, the same as the other professional level exam, the Automation Business Analyst Professional. We understand that this is an adjustment from its predecessor. The reason for that is the cost to maintain and reinvest into the program has been rising in the past few years since the program launch. We want to assure you that this adjustment is necessary to continue providing the high-quality certification experience and resources that you expect from UiPath.
The Associate level certification exam fee will remain the same, providing a relatively affordable entry point for the aspiring/new Automation Developers.

Unused, valid vouchers for the retired exams
We will honor unused, valid vouchers for RPA Associate Exam and Advanced RPA Developer Exam.

Renaming of Automation Business Analyst Certification
The Automation Business Analyst will be renamed to Automation Business Analyst Professional to align with the updated program framework. For the existing credential holders, your credential remains active and there is no action required; however, please be aware that wherever you have shared your digital badge, the badge image will continue to display the older name. When someone clicks on your badge, they will see the most up-to-date image. To learn how to share and download your digital badge, please visit the Digital Credential FAQ. Additionally, the qualifying exam is also renamed to UiPath Automation Business Analyst Professional Exam. Existing appointments for the Automation Business Analyst Exam are not affected and any exam vouchers previously purchased remain valid.

Q: What are my Certification options?

Q: What are the retired certifications and what happens?

Several UiPath certifications have been retired and replaced with updated versions that reflect the industry trend. Here's what you need to know:

The legacy RPA Developer Advanced certification expired on June 30, 2021. It is no longer downloadable and does not fulfill prerequisites for current certifications. We recommend achieving a current UiPath Certified Professional credential to maintain your competitive edge.

RPA Associate (UiRPA) and Advanced RPA Developer (UiARD) certifications were retired on October 13, 2023. They have been replaced by the Automation Developer Associate and Automation Developer Professional certifications. If you earned UiRPA or UiARD, your credential remains valid for three years from October 13, 2023. To stay current, consider earning the new certifications.

The Test Automation Engineer Professional certification was discontinued on April 28, 2025 and has been replaced by the Software Testing Engineer Professional certification. Credentials earned before this date remain valid for three years from the date of achievement. For example, a certification earned on January 10, 2025, is valid until January 9, 2028. Recertification as a Test Automation Engineer Professional is not available.

Q: What are the steps to prepare and get UiPath Certified?

You can prepare and get certified through the following steps:

Q: What are my training options?

You can prepare for the exams by joining UiPath Academy or using other training sources as suggested in the exam descriptions.

Q: How do I practice before taking the exam?

Practice tests are available online and are free. The topics and questions in the practice tests are aligned with the proctored certification exams. Please note that unlike the proctored exams, practice tests have static questions. This means that you will receive the same questions every time you take a practice test. In addition, you will receive a score report after the practice test that will reflect topics you need to prepare further.

Q: In what languages are UiPath Certification exams available?

All UiPath exams are in English. These exams are also available in Japanese.

Q: How long are my UiPath Certifications valid?

Starting from October 13, 2023, all UiPath Certified Professional Certifications hold a validity period of 3 years, calculated from the date of credential achievement. The RPA Associate and Advanced RPA Developer Certifications have refreshed and relaunched as the revitalized Automation Developer Associate and Automation Developer Professional. UiPath continues to recognize the significance of the RPA Associate and Advanced RPA Developer Certifications until October of 2026. After this date, UiPath deems RPA Associate and Advanced RPA Developer Certifications to be antiquated and their credentials cease to validate. All UiPath Certified Professionals are expected to maintain their competitive edge by getting recertified every three years to keep pace with the technology updates.

Q: What happens to my Specialized AI Professional exam vouchers I purchased before June 2024?

If you have previously purchased (or been given) a voucher for the Specialized AI Professional exam, it will still be valid as originally intended. If you have purchased a voucher that pays 100% of the exam fee, it will pay 100% of the exam fee for the updated version of the exam as long as the voucher is valid.

Q: What are the products covered in each exam?

We will be continuously aligning certification exams to newer product releases of the UiPath platform. We plan to introduce the next versions of the exams when UiPath introduces major updates or disruptive technologies.

Q: What types of questions are included in the exams?

The UiPath Certified Professional exams are designed to include the following question types:

Lab-based questions require candidates to complete assigned tasks in a simulated environment (virtual machine). You will be evaluated based on your ability to perform real-world tasks using UiPath tools.

An exam participant may receive several or all question types.

Q: Are the exams also available online/remotely?

The UiPath Certified Professional Certification Exams can also be taken in the comfort of your own house. You can take UiPath Certification Exams online through OnVUE - which allows you to conveniently take exams at home or in the office, while being monitored by an offsite proctor. All communication with the proctor is done in English. A Japanese-speaking proctoring is available for Japanese speakers.

Q: How do I schedule my Certification exam?

Exams are offered in secure proctored environments at Pearson VUE Test Centers throughout the world and as remotely proctored exams at your private location via OnVUE. Please visit Pearson VUE to register, pay the exam fee, and schedule the day and time of your exam. If you have a voucher, you can enter the voucher number in the last step before the checkout process.

Q: How much is the exam fee for each exam?

Q: Are there any discounts for exam fees?

University/college students and professors in the UiPath Academic Alliance program may be eligible for a discount on the exam fee. Please ask your professor or educator to contact the Academic Alliance program manager(s) for the discount vouchers.

Q: What are vouchers and how can I use them?

Vouchers are pre-paid exam fees. If your team or organization is planning to certify a number of professionals, you may want to buy vouchers in bulk and distribute.
If you are planning to certify 100 or more professionals, please email the UiPath Certified Professional program office for a special bulk discount.

Q: What do I do when I am having trouble with the Marketplace?

If you experience some issues, it may be a browser cookie issue. Deleting the affected cookie or using a private/incognito browser should resolve this. If you make multiple purchases using the same card in a short period of time, it may alarm Pearson VUE's fraud prevention system.

Q: Are there any accommodations offered for the exam?

UiPath is committed to providing access to all individuals with disabilities. Depending on your geographic region, test accommodations may also be known as “special arrangements” or “reasonable adjustments.” A request for special testing accommodation may be submitted through the UiPath contact page.

Q: What are the ID requirements?

Make sure you have acceptable ID. Before testing online, you’ll need to provide a headshot photo of yourself, your identification (ID), and your testing space. Identification must meet the requirements outlined below:

Q: Can I take notes during the exam?

Note-taking is not allowed during the exam, but you can make comments that will act as feedback notes inside the exam display screens.

Q: How is my exam score calculated?

Total number of correct answers divided by total number of questions multiplied by 100.

Q: When do I receive the results?

At the end of the exam, you will receive a provisional score report that includes your exam score, a grade (pass/fail), and a summary of your results.

Q: How can my employer verify my UiPath Certification?

Your employer can verify and validate your credential by entering a verification code on the UiPath Certification Manager’s verification page.

Q: Will UiPath share my Certification information?

We follow strict privacy policies for contacting you or sharing your information. When you accept the Candidate Agreement, you are allowing us to share your certification information with your employer.

Q: What is the exam retake policy?

If you do not pass the exam on the first attempt, you need to wait for two weeks before you can take it again. For all subsequent attempts, you need to wait for one month between each attempt.

Q: How can I reschedule or cancel an appointment?

If you want to cancel or reschedule an exam, you must contact Pearson VUE or access your online Pearson VUE account to cancel your exam at least a minimum of 48 hours prior to your appointment.
